Wastewater treatment plant in Ureki, Georgia

Contractor:

Ludwig Pfeiffer Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG

Location:

Ureki, Georgia

Customer:

United Water Supply Company of Georgia

Project details:

The technically challenging project required a design suitable for the big difference in people’s equivalent between summer and winter period due to the different number of users (summer: 20,000 PE; winter: 2,750 PE). Thus, the plant operation needed to be divided into two separated modes and hence had to be carefully designed as such. Bad soil conditions required an equally careful design approach, as well as an extensive soil replacement beneath certain structures of the WWTP.

Volume: US$ 7.5 million, financed by ADB
Construction time: 09.2015 - 05.2018
Technical solution: The project realization included the design, supply and installation of a wastewater treatment plant. The type of treatment is extended aeration with simultaneous nitrification/de-nitrification and chemical phosphorus removal.
